Kailash Satyarthi Honored with Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year Award
17.10.2015: Kailash Satyarthi who fights for the cause of child rights was honoured with Nobel peace prize and the man has another feather in his cap. Recognizing his contribution to the cause, he is conferred with Harvard University’s humanitarian of the year award. Due to his efforts, the child protection and welfare related clauses are included in SDGs of United Nations. This will help end child slavery, trafficking labour and violence against children.
G Narayana Raju is the Legislative Secretary
17.10.2015: G Narayana Raju is appointed as the legislative secretary. Prior to this appointment, in May he took charge as the member secretary of the Law Commission. He served the legislative department in various capacities. The department drafts for the central government and Narayana Raju will be the top draftsman of the government.
New House Keeper f Nepal is Onsari Gharti magar
17.10.2015: Onsari Gharti Magar is elected as House Speaker of Nepal. She is a candidate of unified communist party of Nepal. Her election as house speaker was unanimous. She is the first female speaker in the Nepal parliament. She was the former deputy speaker and also served as minister of youth and sports in Nepal cabinet. She worked under the leadership of Jhala Nath Khanal. Anuradha Thap, a Nepal Majdoor kisan party candidate was also in the fray but withdrew her nomination making it possible for Onsari to get elected unanimously.
Admiral Radhakrishna Hariram Tahilani is No more
17.10.2015: Admiral Radhakrishna Hariam Tahilani, the former chief of Naval Staff passed away at the age of 85. He joined navy in 1950 and served from 1984 to 1987 as the 11th chief of Naval staff.
Online Fashion Store Abof.com Launched
17.10.2015: a new online fashion store is launched by Aditya Birla Group. Dubbed as Abof.com, this portal will offer various brands of Aditya Birla Group and also of other companies. Abof.com, all about fashion portal offers footwear, accessories and apparel for both men and women. The e-commerce site is going to compete with the likes of Flipkart and Myntra, the other two popular online fashion stores in India.
