Cartoonish Sudhir Tailang Passed Away
7.2.2016: Padma Shree Sudhir Tilang, well known cartoonist breathed his last in a hospital. He was suffering from brain tumor since few years. He was 55. Mr. Tailand was born in Bikaner and his career as cartoonist began in the year 1970. He worked for various English newspapers such as Illustrated Weekly of India, Navbharat Times, Hindustan Times, Time of India and Indian Express. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2004.
Three Months Ban on Pakistan Leg Spinner Yasir Shah
7.2.2016: International Cricket Council suspended Pakistan leg spinner Yasir Shah for three months. He was tested positive for a banned substance. Urine sample of Yasir Shah was taken as part of ICC random doping test after one day series against England in November, 2015. He was tested positive and was temporarily banned then itself. He could not participate in any cricket related programs till March 27th, 2016. ICC added that they believe the argument of Yasir Shah that he took the blood pressure medicines of his wife accidentally.
Indian Women Win Last Match in One Day Series with Australia
7.2.2016: Indian women cricket team captain Mithali Raj’s 89 runs in 113 balls helped India team to win the last and final match in the three one day series against Australia. India won the match by 5 wickets. Australia won the series 2-1.
Rise of Digital India Exhibition Inaugurated by Sushma Swaraj
7.2.2016: External affairs minister of India Sushma Swaraj inaugurated Rise of Digital India Exhibition I Colombo. She is visiting Sri Lanka for two days. The exhibition is part of Festival of India celebrations in Sri Lanka. The festival celebrations will be held for six months. It is referred as Sangam – The festival of India in Sri Lanka 2015 – 16.
IFR Concluded in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
7.2.2016: International Fleet Review the event conducted by Indian Navy concluded in Visakhapatnam. The event was held from 4h of this month. The theme of this year’s event was ‘United through Oceans’. Navies of fifty two countries participated in the show.
