 Global Filmmaking Award 2016 for Geethu Mohandas

5.2.2016: Geethu Mohandas, the Indian writer won Sundance Institute Global Filmmaking award 2016 for her script of Insha Allah.  The award was presented to her on 30th January on Utah.  The movie Insha Allah is about a eleven year old boy who searches for his older brother.  The movie is yet to be shot.

First World Sanskrit Award for Maha Chakri Sirindhorn

5.2.2016: India is going to honor Thai princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn with World Sanskrit Award.  The 60 year old princess will visit India soon to receive the award, said Ministry of External affairs Secretary Anil Wadhwa.  More than six hundred scholars in Sanskrit participated in the five day world Sanskrit conference held in India.  Thai leaders including prime minister, Prince of Thai and deputy prime minister are also visiting India this year.

Two Nation Tour of Vice President Hamid Ansari Concluded

5.2.2016: Vice president Hamid Ansari’s two nation tour to Thailand and Brunei ended.  He is the first vice president to visit Brunei. He also had talks with the sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bokiah Mu’izzadin Waddaulah.

ICC Appoints Rahul Dravid as Member of Anti-Corruption Unit Oversight Group

5.2.2016: Anti corruption unit oversight group is constituted by International Cricket Council.  A meeting was held at ICC headquarter in Dubai and it was decided that Rahul Dravid is going to be a member of the group.  There will be a chairman, two ex-officio members and also two members.  David Peever is the chairman of the group.

12th South Asian Games Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi

5.2.2016: Prime minister of India Narendra Modi inaugurated the 12th South Asian Games in Gauhati. Shillong and Gauhati are co-hosting the games.  3333 athletes and officials from eight countries are taking part in these games. The countries are Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. 521 athletes from India are participating in the games.  India topped the list of medals in all the editions so far.
