Elections 2014: How TDP Justifies Its Alliance With BJP

With the hype crated on the present elections, many of the political parties tried to forge an alliance with the BJP as the party is expected to perform exceedingly well. TDP chief ensured poll alliance with BJP.

Hyderabad: TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s political wisdom is proved yet again with his forging alliance with BJP.

To recollect the history, TDP was part of the NDA earlier. But during 2004, Naidu severed ties BJP showing that the BJP is communal. During that election both Naidu at state and BJP at centre lost power. During the last 10 years both are sitting in the opposition. After spending long 10 year sin opposition, now Naidu wants to come to power at any cost as it is known to all that the party’s existence itself can be doubtful in absence of power for the 3rd consecutive term.

The sudden surprise came to TDP in more than one way. Congress high command decided to give Telangana and as a result many famous leaders from Congress decided to strengthen other political parties in the state and major chunk of defectors from congress moved to TDP.

BJP, at the national level, is expected to show one of the best ever performance in the coming elections. The party is also in need of much needed support form a big party with similar ideologies. Here Naidu could fit the bill by projecting TDP as a party that is looking for development as that of BJP. He has also been successful in forging alliance with BJP in both the parts of AP i.e., Telangana & Seemandhra).

He could project to BJP’s high command that TDP’s strong cadre base in both the regions would benefit both the parties by this alliance and this alliance would be a win-win situation for both. Chandrababu even accepted the BJP’s demanded seats (beyond their winning capability) and he ensured that the alliance is concluded.

Now that the alliance between TDP & BJP is approved, Naidu is busy thrashing out the minor dissidence occurring in TDP as the party is forced to give away some TDP strong seats to BJP as part of the alliance.

By concluding pre-poll alliance with BJP, TDP chief ensured that there is no place for TRS to associate with BJP or NDA post poll. Thus, he is able to push TRS to corner and now TRS is forced to face the elections on its own.
