Modi Is Cleaner In Godhra Issue after Court Ruling – NCP Says No More Debating On This Issue

All over India, BJP and the BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi are increasing their popularity and the BJP is expected to garner the magic figure of 272+ MP seats on its. To dent the popularity of the party and the party’s PM candidate, congress has been taking up the issue of Godhra riots of 2002 and involvement of NaMo in this incident. Now the court cleared NaMo from this unfortunate incident. The court clearance is definitely a shot in the arm for the BJP.

Mumbai: BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has been facing continuous criticism from congress sectors alleging that NaMo is involved in Godhra incidents. This 2002 issue has been taken up again and again. Now with the courts giving clean chit to NaMo the BJP is relieved. Unexpected support came to NaMo from NCP leader Praful Patel stating that “The judicial system is the final recourse to getting justice on any issue or to bring finality to any controversy, and if the judicial system has given any pronouncement, we ought to respect it. We will not question it further”.

NCP chief and union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar also supported Praful’s above statement and confirmed that “if courts have given their verdict, then the question of holding a debate on it does not arise. We accept the court’s order and there won’t be any debate on it”

In the present episode there are two points to note:

1) 1984 Delhi riots subsequent to killing of Smt. Indira Gandhi massacring Sikhs & 2002 Godhra riots have almost similarities and both of the cases are sub-judice. Congress is convenient ignoring the 1984 Delhi riots case and highlighting the Godhra issue time and again.

2) NCP is presently an active member in the ruling UPA (where congress is the major party and congress chief Sonia Gandhi is the chairperson of UPA). Praful Patel as well as Sharad Pawar’s comments about NaMo are clear indication that NCP might be differing with UPA in view of the coming general elections. The seat sharing in Maharashtra for the coming elections is still under way and the congress and NCP are yet to reach an amicable resolution in this matter. While the congress wants to decrease the NCP quota (compared to previous elections) in the MP segment, NCP is actually asking for higher quota. NCP is asking for 22:26 ratio as followed in previous elections, congress is projecting NCP strength at around 17 seats. The present issue of NaMO clearance in Godhra issue may be a political pressure tactics by NCP on the congress.

It is also rumoured that NCP chief met BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in New Delhi two weeks ago and the news came in many circles of press. Sharad Pawar also refuted the report.

With the court clearance, BJP is more aggressive in its effort to win the required strength on its own. May be NCP also trying to form an alliance with BJP for the forthcoming elections scheduled in the next 3 months.
