HEMAMALINI STIFF COMPETITION FOR RLD

Madhura Witnessing Severe Competition Between Politics Vs Cine Glamour

Madhura Lok Sabha is attracting the national attention in view of the stiff competition between political experience of Jayant Chaudhary and cine glamour Hema Malini.

Lucknow: Mathura is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies that is attracting the national interest. This is in view of the fact that the present elections for this seat are fought between political stalwart Jayant Chaudhary from RLD and not so political fame Hema Malini from BJP.

Mathura has been a vibrant LS seat in Uttar Pradesh state. This constituency comprises of 5 MLA’s i.e., Chhata, Mant, Goverdhan, Madhura, Baldev. The total electorates for this LS seat are 13.38 lacs (as per 2009 LS election) where the incumbent from RLD scored 3.80 lacs (52%) out of total votes polled i.e, 7.27 lacs. During 2009 MP elections, RLD contested this seat in alliance with BJP.

This time RLD is in alliance with congress and as per the seat-sharing arrangement the present incumbent (from RLD) is seeking re-election.

The voters of Mathura LS supported congress (4 times), Independent (3 times), BJP (4 times) & JP-S, BLD, JD & RLD one time each.

The present MP Jayant Chaudhary has a great political background that he is the grandson of Charan Singh (ex PM of India) and son of Ajit Singh (union minister in UPA government). RLD contestant is having positive points that he is the incumbent. His contest is favored because of his background of political family. The negative aspects in his candidature are the anti-incumbancy and anti-UPA wave existing in the country. RLD’s constant changing loyalty (from NDA to UPA etc) also gives differing views about the party to the voters.

The BJP contestant Hema Malini, on the other hand, is not having that much strong political background. She has been active in BJP political circles but this is the first time that she is facing direct elections. BJP support & strong Modi-wave prevailing in the country would be her plus points. Lack of direct elections can be her negative points. To support her candidature, Hema Malini declared herself a Krishna devotee and she also confirmed that she would be available at local on purchasing house for herself in Mathura constituency. Absence of Hema Malini’s husband Dharmendra in campaigning is also felt. But Dharmendra gave an explanation for his absence in campaigning citing his health condition.

Mathura LS with 6 candidates is going to vote on 24th April and the results are expected on 15th May 2014.
