Jagan Factor In BJP TDP Alliance

YS Jagan is an important factor not only in Seemandhra politics, but his role is equally highlighted in TDP BJP alliance.

Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan is leaving his own impact on the politics of Seemandhra region. He is considered as the main opponent to TDP and is expected to give tough fight in Chandrababu Naidu’s attempt to reach the CM post of the state.

After death of his father and the then CM YSR, Jagan wanted to conduct ‘odarpu yatra’ to console the relatives of persons who could not bear the death of YSR and ended their lives. The congress high command objected to the same and Jagan revolted against the congress high command to start his political party under the name YSR Congress Party.

YS Jagan is facing many cases involving financial irregularities including money laundering. Enforcement Directorate confiscated assets worth around Rs.1000 crores from the organizations of Jagan. Jagan was put in jail for 16 months and subsequently came on bail. It is rumored that YSRCP had a secret understanding with congress at centre and that is the reason he got bail.

In the context of T-Bill, Jagan issued a letter to centre advising them to take appropriate action under article 3 of constitution to settle the issue of Telangana. Once the T-bill got clearance in Parliament, YSRCP concentrated its efforts in Seemandhra region of the state. The YSRCP is believed as strong regional party in Seemandhra. The popularity of the party and its chief are also very high.

It is this background (amongst many other reasons) that prompted Naidu of TDP to forge an alliance with BJP. When Narendra Modi’s popularity is shown increasing many celebrities approached him on various occasions. Some of the meetings were in connection with pre-poll alliance and some other happened to be just courtesy calls.

As per some reports in the press, Jagan tried his best through his contacts to Kishan Reddy the BJP state chief, to ensure that the TDP BJP alliance is avoided. Once the alliance was forged, there were dissidence in both the parties and once again Jagan got involved to see that the alliance is closed once and for all. Jagan’s game plan is to come closer to BJP and Narendra Modi (expected to become Prime Minister) so that he is able to get some relief in the cases against him.

Naidu from TDP could smell the foul and was quick to react and resolve the issues with BJP and the alliance is back on track. This forced Jagan move away from BJP.
