Honda Activa 125 launched for Rs 56,607 in India

Honda has just launched the Activa 125 in India for Rs 56,607 after it was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. The scooter will try to capitalise on the success of its 110cc sibling.

New Delhi: Hnda has launched the Activa 125 in India for Rs 56,607 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The bookings for the scooter had been opened earlier for Rs 5,000 and it also marks Honda’s entry into the lucrative 125cc automatic scooter segment. It has been launched in two variants: Standard and Deluxe. The above mentioned price is for the Standard variant and the Deluxe one will cost you Rs.62,588 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). These ex-showroom price would result in an on-road pricing ofRs 62,276 and Rs 69,500 for the two variants respectively.

The standard model gets a front drum brake while the Deluxe variant gets a disc brake up front. Under the hood of the Activa 125 is a 4 stroke, single cylinder 125cc motor which air cooled and churns out 8.6 BHP of power @ 6,500 RPM alongside a peak torque of 10.12 NM @ 5,500 RPM. The engine has been mated to a CVT transmission. Taking care of halting duties in both the variants is the Combined Braking System.

At this price point, the standard Activa 125 comes across as Rs 7,000 costlier than the Activa 110 DLX and we think that Honda Activa as a name is good enough to sell the scooter, be it the 110cc variant or the 125cc unit.

Honda has launched the Activa 125 in four shades which areWhite, Black, Blue and Silver. At this price point and with these set of specifications, it will be up against the Access 125, the iconic Vespa and the Vespa S.

It has been rated to return a fuel efficiency of 60 kilometres for every litre of fuel but do not expect it to return more than 50 kilometres to a litre in real world conditions. The Honda Activa 125 comes across as a powerful alternative to the regular scooters and will give you that extra power at the twist of a wrist in the city traffic. It does not match up to the Vespa on paper and we’d like to surely do a road test of the scooter to find out which one fares better.
