Chhruim Sherpa is First Woman to Climbe Mount Everest Two Times in a Week

20.04.2015: Chhruim Sherpa is the first woman in the world to climb 8850 meter Mount Everest summit two times in a week. She will carry the belonging of deceased cricketer Phil Hughes during her next ascent to Mount Everest as a mark of tribute to him. His cricket bat and jerseys will be carried by her. Hughes died due to a head injury caused while batting in a domestic match in Sydney. He died in November last year.

Three Race Walkers from India Quality for Rio Olympics

Sandeep Kumar, Manish Rawat and Khushbir Kaur are the three Indian Race Walkers who are qualified for Rio Olympics that will be held in 2016. The three participated in IAAF Race Walking Challenge in Rio Maiorin Portugal. Khushbir Kaur finished at 13th place in the race. She is the 20 km walk record national holder. Manish Rawal finished in top 10. Sandeep, the national 50 km race walk record holder finished 14th in the race.

Stone Laid for Dr BR Ambedkar International Centre at New Delhi

20.04.2015: Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi laid the stone for Dr BR Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The centre will have a convention centre, a library and a museum. Estimated budget for this International centre which is named after Ambedkar is Rs. 198 crores.

Subodham Campaign Launched in India

20.04.2015: Kerala government launched the Subodham campaign to help people overcome alcohol and drug abuse. The campaign was launched by the chief minister of the state and Ravishanker, the founder of Art of Living Foundation. Many religious leaders and student organization representatives were present at the event. Kerala state government is also planning to introduce content based on anti drug and alcohol awareness in its curriculum from coming academic year.

Indian Navy’s new War Ship Launched in Visakhapatnam

20.04.2015: Minu Dhowan, wife of Chief of Naval Staff Admiral RK Dhowan launched the new warship in Visakhapatnam. The ship is the biggest destroyer and enhances the capacity in operating biological, nuclear and chemical atmosphere. The warship is 163 meters long and weighs 7300 tonnes. This warship is designed indigenously.
