Lt General Man Mohan Singh Rai Appointed Vice Chief of Indian Army

14.07.2015: Lt General Man Mohan Singh Rai is appointed the new vice chief of Indian Army.  He is appointed in place of Lt Gen Philips Compose whose term ends on July 31st.  Man Mohan Singh Rai is serving as Eastern Army Commander prior to this appointment.  He was commissioned from IMA, Dehradun in 1976.

M S Viswanathan, the Legendary Music Director of South Passed away

14.07.2015: M S Viswanathan, who scored music for more than 1700 Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu films, breathed his last in Chennai at the age of 87.  He is the one who introduced Ilayaraja and AR Rahman to the film industry.  He was suffering from breath related problems and breathed his last in Adayar, Chennai.  He is survived by four sons and three daughters.

Former BSFI President Pashupatinath Roy is No More

14.07.2015: Pashupathinath Roy who worked in various capacities for BSFI breathed his last at the age of 76 years.  He was also the president of West Bengal Badminton Association for nearly fifty years.

Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals Suspended for Two Years

14.07.2015: IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are suspended for two years by justice RM Loda headed panel. The suspension comes into effect immediately.  Raj Kundra and Gurunath Meiyappan are also suspended from cricket matches for life as they are found guilty of betting.

Godavari Mahapushkaram Begin in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

14.07.2015: The 12 day Maha Pushkaram for River Godavari began on 14th July in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.  Jupiter’s entry into constellation of Leo marks the beginning of Pushkaram. There was a huge stampede at Rajahmundry on the first day of the Pushkaram.  Nearly 27 people died in this unfortunate incident.

Nashika-Trimbakeshwar Samhastha Kumbha Mela Begins

14.07.2015: Kumbha Mela begins on 14th July, 2015 and the festival will end on August 11.  This is a Hindu pilgrimage of faith where people take bath in sacred river.  Kumbh Mela is organized at one place every three years by rotation.  The four places are Haridwar, Allahabad, Nashik and Ujjain.
