13.04.2015: Baba Ramdev is appointed by Haryana Government as brand ambassador for the state to promote Yoga and ayurveda. He will be given a status equivalent to cabinet minister. It is also informed that Yoga will be made compulsory subject in schools across the state and Yogshalas will be constructed in all towns and villages.

Om Thanvi Selected for Bihari Puraskar 2014

13.04.2015: Writer and journalist Om Thanvi is selected for Bihari Puraskar for the year 2014 for his book Muanjodaro. Thanvi has given detailed account of Indus valley civilization. Thanvi is 55 years old and is popular for his story telling is simple language. The Bihari Puraskar carried Rs. One lakh cash and a citation. Thanvi is from Falaudi, Jodhpur. He earlier worked in Rajasthan Patrika and Saptahik Itvari Patrika. He joined Jansatta in 1989.

Guenter Grass is no More

13.04.2015: Guenter Grass, Nobel Laureate from Germany breathed his last at the age of 87. His one of the popular literary work was The Tin Drum which was published in the year 1959. He was honored with Nobel Prize for his work after thirty years of its publication.

IDBI and LIC made an agreement to provide Life Cover to account holders

13.04.2015: IDBI and Life Insurance Corporation of India made an agreement to implement Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti bima Yojana to all the savings bank account holders of IDBI bank. As per the scheme, all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18-50 years will be provided with Rs. 2 lakh insurance cover and the annual premium is Rs. 330.

International Financial Centre Opened in Gujarat

13.04.2015: The first International Financial Centre in India became operational in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. A special ceremony was organized in Gandhinagar in which Finance Minister Arun Jaitley unveiled the rules and regulations. As per the rules, the companies incorporated outside India can raise money in foreign currencies by listing equity shares in stock exchanges and will be allowed to trade.

Brijbushan Sharan Singh Elected Again as President of WFI

13.04.2015: Brijbhushan Sharan Singh is re-elected as the president of Wrestling Federation of India. He will be in this post for four years. He was also elected as president in 2012.
