Boxer MC Mary Kom Appointed as Brand Ambassador for North East

14.3.2015: five time world boxing champion Mary Kom is appointed as brand ambassador for north east region. This was announced by North eastern region development minister Jitendra Singh. Mary Kom, the boxing champion is nicknamed Magnificent Mary. She is the only women boxer to won a medal at six world champions. She won bronze medal in 2012 Olympics. She also won gold at Asian games 2014. She is honored with Padma Bhushan in 2013, Padma Shree in 2010 and Arjuna Award in 2003.

Dr Alka Beotra Nominated as Member of World Association of Anti Doping Scientists Executive Board

14.3.2015: Dr Alka Beotra, the scientific director of National Dope Testing Laboratory is nominated as a member of World Association of Anti Doping Scientists Executive Board. She will be a member of EAADS for three years starting from this month.

Aarthi Subramanian Appointed as Executive Director of TCS

14.3.2015: Tata Consultancy Services appointed Aarthi Subramanian as the executive director on board of directors. She will be in this position for three years. There are six independent directors in TCS board and a total of eleven directors including Aarthi Subramanian.

Lia Van Leer, Pioneer of Israeli Cinema Passed Away

14.3.2015: Lia Van Leer, the founder of first cinema club in Israel passed away in Jerusalem. She was 90. She is also the founder of Jerusalem Cinematheque, Haifa Cineamtheque and Jerusalem Film Festival. She was born in Romania. Lia won many awards including Israel Prize and President’s medal in 2014. At 45the Berlin International Film Festival, she was the head of the jury.

Mahatma Gandhi Statues Unveiled at Parliament Square, London

14.3.2015: Britain prime minister David Cameron and Indian finance minister Arun Jaitley unveiled the status of Mahatma Gandhi at Parliament Square, London. Bollywood Hero Amitab Bachan also participated in the event. This is the first statue of an Indian near Parliament square. The statue is of nine feet high. It is made of bronze ad is crafted by British sculptor Philip Jacson.

Ex President of Maldives sentenced for 13 years in Jail

14.3.2015: Ex president of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed is sentenced for 13 years in Jail. He was arrested on charges of terrorism. Nasheed was the first president to be elected through democratic procedure. Nasheed is going to seek justice at higher court. The 47 year old politician was defeated by Yameen in the presidential elections in 2013.
