Indian Scientist Kambhampati Selected for US Presidential Award

28.3.2015: Indian America scientist, Professor Murthy S Kambhampati has been selected for US Presidential award. He is among 15 scientists who are selected for award of excellence in science, mathematics and engineering. Kambhampati is presently professor of biology at Southern University. The award will be given away at White House in this year. .

Saina Nehwal is First Indian Woman to Attain World No1 Badminton Ranking

28.3.2015: Saina Nehwal is likely to be announced the world no. 1 player when the ranking will be announced on Thursday next week. Carolina Marin, challenger for the spot was defeated by third seed Thai Ratchanok Intanon in India Open Super Series semi final. Saina is the first woman to become world no. 1 player. Prakash Padukone held the position as no. 1 men’ badminton player earlier.

President of India Pranab Mukherji Removes Mizoram Governor

28.3.2015: Mizoram Governor Aziz Qureshi took the issue of his removal as governor of Mizoram to Supreme court. He was removed by president of India Pranab Mukherjee. West Bengal governor Deshri Nath Tripathi will take additional charge in his place. Qureshi’s tenure ends in 2017.

e-Ration cards Launched by Delhi Chief Minister

28.3.2015: India’s first e-ration cards were launched by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. This is curb corruption, said the officials. All e-ration cards will be linked to Aadhaar cards. This system will enable the beneficiaries to get their cards online from web portal. The delay in preparation of cards will cut down.

Rajasthan Government Banks Trading, Slaughter and Transportation of Camels

28.3.2015: Camel is the state anima of Rajasthan. Now Rajasthan assembly passed a bill that bans unauthorized transportation of camels. Slaughtering and trading them. According to the bill causing injury to camel is also punishable. Camel was announced as state animal by the government in 2014.

Medha Patkar Quits Aam Aadmi Party

28.3.2015: Aam Aadmi party ousted founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the party. Following this, social activist Medha Patkar decided to quit Aam Aadmi Party.

ISRO IRNSS-1D Launch Successful

28.3.2015: ISRO launched the fourth navigation satellite successfully from Sriharikota. India has now joined the group countries which have their own satellite navigation system. This is the fourth in series of seven navigation satellites and the first three in this series were launched in the year 2013.
