Power Star’s Janasena Party & Its Influence On AP Voters

Power Star Pawan Kalyan launched his Janasena Party and declared some of his new party’s ideology “remove congress and save India”. Now every political party including BJP, TDP are trying to rope in Pawan into their alliance.

Hyderabad: Pawan Kalyan is presently known more as action here with many hit movies to his credit. But during his initial career, he was seen & known as brother of Chiranjeevi only.

To encash on the mass fan following Chiranjeevi entered into politics and started his own political outfit in the name of ‘Praja Rajyam Party (PRP)’. During the party launching as well election campaigns by Chiru, the gatherings were very large. During the elections campaigns, Chiru attacked congress mainly on the issues of corruption, price rise etc. Some of the surveys also indicated that Chiru’s PRP might perform extraordinarily well & Chiru will become CM & form the government. But when it came to votes, in the 2009 elections, PRP got only 18 seats and even Chiru got defeated in his own home-town (Palakollu) with the only consolation that he got elected as MLA from Tirupati.

Being unable to maintain the party, Chiru merged his PRP with congress and in return he got RS nomination and two of his MLA’s became ministers in state cabinet. Just before the T-bill, congress ‘recognized’ Chiru with MoS for tourism at union cabinet. When the T-Bill issue has been hot topic, Chiru made so many contradicting statements (even contradicting his own statements) and thereby added his but to the confusion in this regard. However none of his assurances were honored by congress high command and T-Bill was cleared by Parliament.

Based on social equations Chiru & Pawan Kalyan belong to Kapu (BC). Now in AP (consisting of 13 districts) this social sector is expected to dominate and in order to garner the BC votes every party is trying its best. Based on this background, Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena can have its own impact on voters of AP. The cine popularity combined with the caste factor, Pawan is expected to exercise influence to major extent. Pawan has been able to meet leaders like TDP supreme Chandrababu, top leadership of BJP including NaMo. His association with these parties is expected to be finalized very shortly and as of date, the alliances are still pending.

On the other side, seeing the track record of Chiru’s PRP, how Pawan is going to differentiate in terms of maintaining his Janasena is a big question to be answered in time to come.
