Peugeot teases Exalt Hybrid before Beijing Motor Show – Can shark skin texture beat Bugatti and Lamborghini breeds?

The French car making giant Peugeot has stunned most of the visitors at the Paris Motor Show 2012 with the amazing Onyx concept car and the model was dubbed into the market the same year later. The five door saloon was the show stealer that year and a new successor to the model has been teased by the manufacturer now. Peugeot has surprised with the teaser images as the model was likely to be revealed at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show this year.

The new Exalt concept measures around 4.7 meters in length and around 1.31 meters of height. Like its predecessor Onyx, the new Exalt concept comes with unique and exclusive styling features which can mesmerize anybody at the first glance. The front end gets a longer bonnet and the front grille is much wider which connects to a set of head lights on both the sides. The finishing on the external body of the model makes the vehicle a perfect unit aerodynamically and we could say it glides through the air at speeds greater than 40 - 60 mph. The 20 inch full steel wheels increases the beauty of the vehicle as well as adds to its stability.

The most interesting thing about the upcoming Exalt concept is the Shark skin (a bio engineered smooth and slippery textile) for rear end of the vehicle. The shark skin is reported to be meant for delivering better aerodynamics for the vehicle. The manufacturer is using premium quality leather materials for making the interiors and the steering wheel is covered with wool based material. An instrumental pane is located on the steering wheel and some controls are also mounted. Peugeot has used carbon fibre material to cover some parts of the seats and the dashboard of the vehicle.

The main source of power is a 1.6 litre inline four cylinder engine that is capable of producing around 270 hp at the peak. The respective engine is accompanied with an electric motor that produces around 70 hp power making the combined power output of the vehicle to 340 hp. The exalt concept uses a 6 speed automatic transmission gear box as standard. We could get more details about the vehicle such as launch schedule and pricing at this year’s Beijing Motor Show.
