Next Gen Audi R8 Super Car Spotted at Nurburgring – Can 5.2L V10 challenge Lamborghini Huracan?

The upcoming edition of the R8 Super Car has been spotted for the first time and few snaps of the test mule were revealed over web by an enthusiast recently. A test mule covered with heavy camouflage was caught while it was being tested on the Nurburgring Circuit located in Germany and it was later recognised as that of the next gen Audi R8 Super car. Audi is going to bring forward the upcoming R8 with a powerful engine line up in order to take down Lamborghini’s Huracan Super revealed at Geneva Motor Show this year.

The outer structure of the test mule spotted seems a lot similar to that of the current gen R8 super car and thus we could expect very minimal changes in dimensions and wheel base of the model. But there might be few cosmetic changes such as replacement of head lights, tail lights and slight alterations to the design of grille and etc. The A pillar is a bit larger and the front end seems to be much lower resembling that of the 2016 Audi TT show cased at Geneva Motor Show 2014. The front grille is positioned lower just like that of the current gen R8 and the air intakes on the front are shaped in the form of a rectangular.

As per the information, we could expect the brand new Audi R8 Super Car to get powered with a 5.2 litre V10 engine that is capable of generating around 600 hp very comfortably. The same engine has produced around 610 hp at the peak when used in the new Lamborghini Huracan but we may not expect such a massive power output in the next gen R8 mostly. We could also expect another version of the model that would be powered with a V8 engine and all variants of the next gen R8 would get accompanied with a 7 speed dual clutch transmission gear box as standard. We may also expect the same 4.2 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine to get continued in the upcoming Audi R8 Super Car.
