Santosh Trophy Football Championship Title Won by Services

14.3.2016: The Santosh Trophy National Football Championships Title is won by Services. In the final match played at SEC Railway Stadium in Nagpur, they defeated Maharashtra 2-1 to win the title. This is the fifth title for services. The winning team won 5 lakh rupees cash prize and the runner up team, Maharashtra won three lakh rupees. Santosh Trophy is an annual football tournament played in India since 1941. The title was first won by Bengal team. The trophy is named after Sir Manmatha Nath Roy Chowdhary of Santhosh. He was the Indian Football association president.

Fourth Successive Win for Vijender Singh in Pro Boxing

14.3.2016: Vijender Singh, Indian boxer defeated Alexander Horvath of Hungary to register his fourth successive win in Pro Boxing. Vijender Singh was being the one with upper hand in the first two rounds of the match. His knockout victory came in the third round. His record in the professional boxing circuit now stands at four knockouts, four wins and four bouts. Vijender Singh belongs to Bhiwnai district in Haryana.

BSNL Launched Free WiFi Service at Srinagar International Airport

14.3.2016: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, launched free WiFi service at Srinagar International Airport. The tourist can access free internet services free for fifteen minutes at the international airport. The service was inaugurated by Asgar H Samoon, the Kashmir Divisional Commissioner. Internet can be accessed on laptops, smartphone by logging in after turning on WiFi services and obtaining a onetime pass word.

Agni-1 Ballistic Missile Test Fired Successfully

14.3.2016: India successfully launched the Agni-1 Ballistic missile from launch pad-4 of ITR in Abdul Kalam Island in Odhisha Coast. The missiles cover a distance of nearly seven hundred kilometers in nine minutes and thirty seconds time. First test fire was conducted in November, 2015 from Abdul Kalam Island. The missiles weighing 12 tonnes were developed by DRDO in collaboration with other centers such as Defense Research Development Laboratory, Research Centre Imarat and Bharat Dynamic Limited, Hyderabad.
