28.2.2016: Dr Avinash Chander who served as Scientific Adviser to Defense Minister and was also the chief or DRDO is chosen for Aryabhata Award 2013 by Astronautical Society of India. He was handed over the ward by Dr R Chidambaram and R A S Kiran Kumar in Ahmadabad. An event was held at Space Applications Centre. For the year 2012, the award was given to Dr Ranganath R Mavalgund. Aryabhata award is presented every year for scientist who contributes to promote astronautics in India.

28.2.2016: Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actor Ranveer Singh are chosen for Dinanath Mangeshkar Award. They will be given away the award by Lata Mangeskar in Pune. Dinanath Mangeshkar award is given each year on 24th April which is the death anniversary of Pandit Dinanth Mangeshkar, father of Lata Mangeshkar. It carries a cash award of 101001 rupees and a memento. The award is being given since 1999.

Ranji Tropy Won by Mumbai Team

28.2.2016: Mumbai team defeated Saurashtra to win the Ranji Trophy for the forty first time. Shreyas Iyer is chosen as the man of the match. In 2015, Karnataka won the trophy for the eighth time by defeating Tamil Nadu. This is the forty first title for Mumbai team. This is also innings victory for Mumbai for the tenth time. Mumbai scored 371 runs and Saurashtra scored 235 and 115 runs in both first and second innings. The team reached finals forty five times. Mumbai won the title record times and the second in the list is Karnataka with eight titles.

e-Tourist Visa Scheme Now Extended to Few More Countries

28.2.2016: union government of India decided to extend e-Tourist Visa to thirty seven more countries. This facility is now available for 150 countries. The new countries include Croatia, Greece, Namibia, South Africa, Switzerland, Tajikistan and Zimbabwe. e-Tourist Visa scheme was launched by the government in November, 2014. The scheme is aimed at promoting tourism in India.
