Htin Kyaw Elected President of Myanmar

16.3.2016: Htin Kyaw is elected as the president of Myanmar. He is the first civilian president of the country. Myanmar is under military rule for fifty three years. He got 360 votes and Myint Swe received 213 and Henry Van got 79 votes. These two will be the first vice president and second vice president of the country respectively.

Naina Lal Kidwani is the Non-executive Director of Altico Capital

15.3.2016: Altico Capital, the non banking financial company announced the appointment of Naina Lal Kidwani as the non executive director of Altico Capital. Naina Kidwani was the executive director of HSCB Asia Pacific and also chairperson of HSBC before she has taken retirement. She was with HSBC for more than thirteen years. She also worked with Larsen and Toubro Limited, Nestle, Cipla Lt and Max Financial Services. She was also the president of FICCI apart from involved with several industry associations.

France’s Highest Civilian Award for Anand Mahindra

15.3.2016: Anand Mahindra, the chairman and managing director of Mahindra and Mahindra was conferred with France’s highest civilian award, Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur. His national and international achievements which are remarkable have won him this honor. Mahindra and Mahindra is one of the India’s prominent business groups and it has partnerships with French industries.

H Deep Saini is the New Vice Chancellor of Canberra University

15.3.2016: Indian plant physiologist H Deep Saini is appointed as the vice chancellor of Canberra University. Prior to this appointment, he was the vice president of the University of Toronto. He is the serving member of NSERC biological systems.

Sainthood for Mother Teresa

15.3.2016: Pope Francis announced that Mother Teresa will be saint of Roman Catholic Church. The ceremony will be held on 4th September, he informed.

15th March is the World Consumer Rights Day

15.3.2016: Fifteenth March every year is observed as the World Consumer Rights day. This is to create awareness and to promote the basic rights of consumers. The theme of this year’s consumer rights day is “Antibiotics off the Menu”.
