Jai Kumar Garg is the new MD and CEO of Corporation Bank

3.2.2016: Corporation bank appointed Jai Kumar Garg and Chief executive officer and managing director. He will be in the position for three years from now, it is said. He took charge as CEO on first of this month. He succeeds S R Bansal. Prior to this appointment, he was the executive director in UCO Bank. Garg is a member of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.

3.2.2016:  Vice president of India Hamid Ansari is on three day visit to Thailand.  Deputy Prime Minister Prajin Juntong welcomed the Indian vice president at the airport.  Ansari will hold talks with prime minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha. An Indian vice president is visiting Thailand for the first time in the last fifty years.

S.S. Tarapore, former RBI Governor Passed Away

3.2.2016: S S Tapore, who served as deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India passed away in Mumbai.  He was 80.  He was ill since few days and was taking treatment in a hospital in Mumbai.  Tarapore served RBI from 1961 to 1996.  He retired as the deputy governor. The economist was also known as inflation hawk.

Balram Jakhar Passed Away

3.2.2016: Congress leader Balram Jakhar passed away in New Delhi. The former Lok Sabha speaker was 92.  He was the Lok Sabha speaker from 1980 to 1989 and also served as Governor of Madhya Pradesh.  The veteran congress leader became the general secretary of the party in 1990. He was a member of congress working committee from 1992.  During his tenure as Lok Sabha speaker, he established parliament museum.

Titli Wins Best First Foreign Film Award

3.2.2016: Titli, directed by Kanu Behl won the best first foreign film award at French Syndicate of Cinema Critics 2016.  Titli is the story of a boy who tries to escape the family business.  The movie won many awards at various international film festivals in Turkey, Spain and Hawaii.
