15.8.2015: The name of sania Mirza is officially approved for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. She is the second tennis player to be nominated for this award. Government of India also announced the Arjuna Awards for the year 2015. The 17 sport persons list includes Rohit Sharma, Jitu Rai, Sreejesh, K Srikant, Swarn Singh Virk, Abhilasha Mhatre and Anup Kumar Yama.

Saina Nehwal Reached World Badminton Championships Final

15.8.2015: Saina Nehwal, ace badminton player of India reached the final of World Badminton Championships. This is the first time that she reached the final of this tournament. She defeated Lindaweni Fanetri to reach the final. This assures her a silver medal in the tournament.

India Celebrated 69th Independence Day on 15th August

15.8.2015: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the flag on Red fort and addressed the nation on the occasion of 69th Independence Day on August 15. He said 18,500 villages will be provided with electricity in the coming three years. He launched Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana. He also promised a house and basic services access to all by the year 2022.

15.8.2015: The first historical monument to have an official twitter handle is Taj Mahal located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh in India. The official twitter account of the historical monument was launched by Akhilesh Yadav, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. It was launched on Indian Independence Day, the 15th August.

Housing for All Policy Approved by Odhisha Government

15.8.2015: A new policy ‘Housing for All’ in urban areas was approved by the Odhisha government. The policy got the approval of the state cabinet. The meeting was chaired by the chief minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik. The meeting was held in Bhubaneswar.
