Rakesh Sharma and Vikramjit Honored with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Bravery Award

17.8.2015: Rakesh Sharma and Vikramjit, two men from Jammu and Kashmir overpowered and caught Mohammad Usman, an LeT terrorist last week. The two young men are felicitated and were given the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Bravery Award.  The award was given by All India Anti Terrorist Front and was handed over to them by MS Bitta, the chairman and Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty. The award also carried a cash prize of one lakh.

Ram Nath Kovind Took Over as Governor of Bihar

17.8.2015: Ram Nath Kovind is the new governor of Bihar. He was sworn in as the governor of the state. Ram Nath Kovind was a former Rajya Sabha member. He is also a dalit leader.

Ajit Kumar Seth is the new Chairman of Public Enterprises Selection Board

17.8.2015: Ajit Kumar Seth is appointed as the new chairman of Public Enterprise Selection Board.  He is appointed in place of Atul Chaturvedi.  Seth will be in this position for three years or till he attains 65 years of age.  PESB also appointed Gauri Kumar and Anushman das as members.

Prime minister Narendra Modi Begun UAE Visit

17.8.2015: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his two day visit to United Arab Emirates.  He is the first prime minister to visit the country in the last 34 years.  In 1981, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi visited UAE.  Crown prince of Abu Dhabi, General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, invited Modi to visit their country.  India is the second largest trading partner of UAE.

Reserve Bank of India Suspended Licenses of Seven NBFCs

17.8.2015: Reserve bank of India suspended the license of seven non banking finance companies which are Religare finance, Artisans Micro Finance, Sweatasree Finance, Nott investments, Dewra Stocks and Secruties, RCS Parivar Finance and Eden Trade and Commerce.

17.8.2015: Stuart Binny is added to the test squad that will play the second test match against Sri Lanka on August 20.  He is called as an addition to 15 man squad, said the sources and may not replace Vijay or Shikhar Dhawan who are injured.  Binny can bat at number 6 and he can also bowl which makes him an all round choice.
