20.06.2015: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is named as the greatest test player of 321st century. Official website of Cricket Australia conducted an online poll and 23 percent of the poll participants votes for Sachin Tendulkar.

Praful Bidwai Passed Away

26.06.2015: Veteran journalist Praful Patel passed away at the age of 65 in Amsterdam. He worked for The Times of India and also wrote columns for Frontline, Hindustan Times and so on. He wrote several books also – New nukes: India, Pakistan and Global Nuclear Disarmament, South Asia on a Short Fuse: Nuclear Politics and the Future of Global Disarmament.

Zaheer Abbas Named the New President of ICC

26.06.2015: Zaheer Abbas, the president of International Cricket Council is named as the new president of ICC. He will succeed Mustafa Kamal of Bangladesh and he will be the president for one year. Abbas is the former captain of Pakistan team.

National Memorial for Jai Prakash Narayan

25.06.2015: government of India approved to build a national memorial for Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash Narayan in Bihar. This was announced by the government just a day before 40th anniversary of emergency. The memorial of Jai Prakash Narayan is going to be an institute for studying and researching on democracy, Gandhian thoughts and Khadi and constructive work.

New Six Indian Institutes of Management are to be Set up in the Country

26.06.2015: Union cabinet approved to set up six new Indian Institute of Managements in the country. This decision was taken in a meeting which was chaired by Narendra Modi. The new IIMs are going to be located in places like Nagpur, Bodh Gaya, Amritsar, Visakhapatnam, Sirmaur and Sambalpur. The first academic session in these institutes is going to begin from 2015 – 16. Each institute will intake 140 students in the post graduate programme.

Bala Sahitya Puraskar 2015 Announced by Sahitya Akademi

26.06.2015: Sahitya Akademi announced the Bal Sahitya Puraskar for the year 2015 and it will be conferred to the recipients on 14th November, 2015. The awards are given to the writers for contribution to children’s literature. Some of the recipients are Tiren Boro, Sowmya Rajendran, Ramnath G Gawade, Ramdeo Jha, Mukti Upadhyay Baral, Tara Chand Kalandri, Srikanta Saren, Sella Ganpathi and Bano Sartaj.
