Fifth Consecutive Win forTeam India in World Cup 2015: India Defeated Ireland at Hamilton

Team India’s winning streak is continuing in World Cup tourney. The team defeated Ireland today in a league match and won the 5th consecutive match. Team India is continuing as the table topper of Group B.

Hamilton: India was given a target of 260 runs by Ireland and lost only two wickets to reach the target. There were 79 balls left. Indian opener Sikhar Dhawan scored a century and is awarded the man of the match. India already confirmed the quarter final berth. Ireland still has knockout chances. Ireland won three matches till now and will play its last league match with Pakistan. This match is going to be crucial for both the teams.

Team India openers Dhawan and Rohit Sharma gave good starting for India. They added 174 runs for the first wicket. Dhawan hit his 8th century in 84 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes. This is his second century in world cup 2015. Rohit and Dhawan were sent back to pavilion by Ireland bowler Thomson. Shami claimed three wickets for Team India and Ashwin claimed 2.

Team India captain Dhoni is one of the best captains. He added another feather to his cap. Team India won maximum number of matches in world cup in his captaincy. This is the fifth consecutive win for Dhoni’s team in the latest event and won 4 consecutive matches in 2011 world cup.

Dhoni also created another record. The record of maximum number of win as a captain in world cup was with Kapil Dev. He was the captain for 11 matches that the team won in world cup. Team India won 12 matches in world cup tourney in the captaincy of Dhoni. Another record is created by Indian openers Sikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. Dhawan and Rohit added 174 runs to the first wicket. This is the highest partnership for first wicket for Team India in world cup. Earlier record was with Sachin and Jadeja who added 163 runs to the first wicket in a world cup match in 1996 against Kenya.

President of India Pranab Mukherji congratulated Team India after winning today’s match. Indian prime minister also congratulated the team in his tweet. Dhoni gave full credit of winning matches at world cup to the bowlers. He added that the performance of bowlers has improved compared to tri series played before world cup.
