BJP GRAND ALLIANCE IN TAMILNADU

Tamil Nadu Poll Alliances – BJP Need To Counter The Violators Of Alliance Arrangement.

BJP’s grand alliance in Tamilnadu is appearing to be short-lived. Now it is time for BJP to overcome this issue as well.

Chennai: In view of the poor response from the two of the leading Dravid parties (DMK & AIADMK) in Tamilnadu for 2014 general elections , BJP forged an alliance with other local parties like PMK, DMDK etc. The alliance has been announced with much ga-ga. It is presumed that the grand alliance is likely to get majority of votes & seats. But the alliance is appearing to be a short-lived one with that the PMK declaring its LS contestant from Puducherry UT (violating the agreed seat sharing arrangement).

BJP has been famous for settling the internal issues whenever there appeared certain difference of opinions and the same can be observed from NaMo’s declaration as PM candidate at their Goa convention where Advani’s absence was magnified, the recent issue of Advani’s choice of LS seat, ticket to seniors like Jaswanth Singh. During all these issues, BJP could successfully come out of the issue.

But here in the case of Tamilnadu, the local parties (though smaller) are more powerful and BJP has been trying to get its entry into this big state (39 MP seats in Tamilnadu + 1 in Puducherry). For the last 2-3 decades, the national parties (both Congress & BJP) have been sidelined with DMK & AIADMK leading the votes & seats in this state. These two local parties have been playing with the national players simultaneously (if DMK is with congress AIADMK goes with BJP).

Seats are majority taken by regional parties leaving a meager share for national parties. This time BJP has been able to contest 8 seats (20% of total seats) as a part of the grand alliance of 7 parties. With the NaMo wave throughout the country and in TN as well, BJP is definitely in a position to win large number of seats and the grand alliance will be part of the NDA to support at centre as well. The poll surveys are also indicating that the BJP alliance might be able to win respectable seats in this state and this is a good opportunity for BJP to enter this state (otherwise captured only by local regional parties).
