New Deputy Chief of Army is Lt Gen N P S Hira

13.3.2016: Lt General N P S Hira, who is presently working as the chief of staff of Northern Command at Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir is appointed s the deputy chief of Army staff. He commanded Battalion in Assam, 12 infantry brigade on Line of Control in Uri sector and also 10 infantry division in Jammu and Kashmir on LoC. He won many awards including Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra and Ati Vishist Seva Medal and other gallantry awards.

Hanan Al Hroub Wins Global Teacher prize 2016

13.3.2016: A primary school teacher from Palestine, Hanan Al Hroub won the 2016 Global Teacher Prize. The prize carried one million dollars cash. Her outstanding contribution to the profession is recognized and she is honored with the award. She runs Samiha Khalil high school in Al-Bireh, Palestine. Other finalists from around the world include Robin Chaurasiya from India. The award was announced at an event in Atlantis Palm Hotel in Dubai by Pope Francis.

Justice Ajit Singh is the New Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court

13.3.2016: Justice Ajit Singh is sworn in as the chief justice of Gauhati high court. Governor of Assam P B Acharya administered the oath of office. President of India Pranab Mukherjee received recommendations of Supreme Court collegiums and he approved the appointment of Justice Ajit Singh.

Clean My Coach Initiative Launched

13.3.2016: Railway minister Suresh Prabhu launched the Clean my Coach service that was announced in the Railway budget speech 2016-17. The passengers travelling in trains can send an SMS to 58888 or use the android app or webpage to request the concerned to clean the coach in which they are travelling.

All Women Branch Launched by YES Bank in Bengaluru

13.3.2016: YES Bank launched all women bank branch in Bangalore. Two more branches were also opened in Mumbai and New Delhi. CEO and MD of YES Bank, Rana Kapoor said that this is to promote women leadership in financial service sector.
