Volvo launched XC90 SUV for Rs. 77.9 lakhs – 2.0L Twin Turbo engine challenges Audi Q7, JLR Range Rover and BMW X5

Volvo India has launched the most awaited Sports Utility Vehicle of the year, the grand new ‘XC90’ with a bang. The manufacturer has stepped into the domestic market in the year 2007 and has a smaller but stronger portfolio in India. The manufacturer is looking forward to strengthen the SUV segment which is one of the most emerging segments currently and thus, the new XC90 is priced for just Rs. 77.90 lakhs only.

The new XC 90 SUV measures around 4950 mm of length, 2008 mm of width and 1776 mm of height respectively. The wheel base of the vehicle is around 2984 mm and the SUV falls under larger vehicle category as it has length exceeding 4 meters. Mr. Thomas Ernberg, the Managing Director for Volvo Auto has stated in connection with the launch of new XC90 “We were not able to get the radar based safety features to the Indian version of the XC90. However, the car will have the radar based safety functions but will remain disabled will the Government gives a go ahead”.

Front fascia of the new XC 90 SUV comes with a set of exclusive T shaped daytime running lights which are named as ‘Thor’s Hammers’ by the respective design team from Volvo. 19 inch full alloy wheels adds much significance to the vehicle along with some standard features such as LED tail lights, premium leather interiors and upholstery, parking assistance, hill descent control, panoramic sun roof, 9 inch touch screen display at the centre of dashboard and etc.

Volvo has powered the SUV with a 2.0 litre twin turbo charged D5 diesel engine that is capable of churning out around 225 hp power at the peak along with 470 Nm of torque. Engine comes mated to an eight speed automatic transmission gear box and it also comes with All Wheel Drive system basically. The top speed of the XC90 SUV is around 230 kmph which is pretty impressive for an Indian SUV.
