India’s Envoy to Mexico is Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi
1.2.2016: Mukesh Kumar Pardeshi is appointed the India’s ambassador to Mexico. He is a senior IFS officer. He belongs to Indian Foreign Service officer 1991 batch. He is presently serving as Joint Secretary in union ministry of external affairs. Earlier, he also served as deputy head of mission in Jakarta at Embassy of India. He also worked in Mexico, Nepal and Colombia in Indian Missions.
Arvind Mediratta is the India MD of Metro Cash and Carry
1.2.2016: Metro Cash and Carry appointed Arvind Mediratta as managing director. He will succeed Rajeev Bakshi. Arvind Mediratta earlier worked as Walmart Executive. Metro Cash and Carry has its operations all over India including in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi. It has 19 wholesale distribution outlets in India.
New Commissioner of Police of Mumbai is Datta Padsalgikar
1.2.2016: Datta Padsalgikar is appointed the commissioner of Police of Mumbai. He succeeded Ahmed Javed who is now appointed as the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Prior to this appointment, Datta Padsalgikar was in Intelligent Bureau. He became the 40th police commissioner of the city.
V Shantaram Life Time Achievement Award for Naresh Bedi
1.2.2016: Naresh Bedi, wildlife filmmaker is given the V Shantaram Lifetime achievement award. The award was given to him at Mumbai International Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation Films. His contribution to wildlife filmmaking is recognized and honored with the award. He filmed many rare wildlife moments.
Kidambi Srikanth Wins Syed Modi International Badminton Championships 2016 Men’s Singles Title
1.2.2016: Indian shuttle Kidambi Srikanth won the men’s Singles Title of Syed Modi International Badminton Championships 2016 by defeating China’s Huang Yuziang. The final match was played at Babu Banarsi Das Indoor Stadium in Lucknow. Prior to this Srikanth won Thailand Grand Prix Gold, China Super series premier and Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold and also India Super Series.
Kohli is the No. 1 Batsman in T20 Internationals, ICC Rankings
1.2.2016: Virat Kohli replaced Finch to become the number one batsman in T20 internationals. ICC released the latest list which revealed this. Kohli performed well in the recently concluded three match T20 series against Australia which was won by India.
