KV Kamath Appointed as First President of New Development Bank of BRICS Nations

11.05.2015: KV Kamath is appointed as the new president of New Development Bank. He was working as non-executive chairman of ICICI prior to this appointment. The headquarters of NDB is at Shanghai, China. The bank is operated by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and will have a rotating chair. First president of the bank is KV Kamath from India. Operations of the bank will begin within a year, it is informed.

Jayalalitha Acquitted in Disproportionate Assets Case

11.05.2015: Karnataka high court acquitted former Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK president Jayalalitha in disproportionate assets case. Jayalalitha is likely to become the chief minister yet again soon. Earlier a trail court sentenced Jayalalitha with four years jail on which Jayalalitha appealed to the high court. The judgment was delivered a day ahead of three months deadline set by Supreme Court to complete the hearing.

Priti Patel is the New Employment Minister of Britain

11.05.2015: Britain Prime Minister David Cameron promoted Indian origin Priti Patel as new Employment Minister. She was elected from Witham in Essex in general elections that were held on May 7th. This is her re-election. Conservatives won 331 seats of the 650 seats and do not need coalition to form the government.

National Safety Council New Chairman is K Satish Reddy

11.05.2015: K Satish Reddy is appointed as the new chairman of National Safety Council. He will succeed Venu Srinivasan. Satish Reddy is presently the Chairman of Dr Reddy’s Labs.

Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea Won the Men’s Doubles Title of Madrid Tennis Open

11.05.2015: Indo Romanian pain Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea won the men’s doubles title of Madrid Tennis open title. They defeated Serbian Polish pair Nenad Zimonjic and Martin Matkowski. On the other hand the Women’s single title was won by Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic. She won the title second time by defeating Sveltlana Kuznetsova of Russia. Dvbitova is the world no. 4. Andy Murray won the men’s single title.
