17.2.2016: Largest online marketplace in India appointed Nitish Seth as the new chief people officer.  Nitin is head of Fidelity internal’s country head.  Nitin Seth succeeds Mekin Maheshwari who left he position in September last year.  Seth also served McKinsey as director of McKC.

Manish Arora Top Indian Fashion Designer Wins Knight of Legion of Honor

17.2.2016: Manish Arora, the well-known fashion designer from India won the Knight of the Legion of Honor, highest civilian honor of France.  The award was presented to him by French Ambassador Francois Richier.  Manish Arora is chosen for this award for his contribution to fashion world.

Alok Kumar Verma is the New Police Commissioner of Delhi

17.2.2016: Alok Kumar Verma, the director general (Prisons) is appointed as the police commissioner of Delhi.  He belongs to 1977 IPS batch. He will succeed BS Bassi, who is going to retire at the end of February, 2016.  Earlier, Alok Kumar Verma also worked in Mizoram as the Director General of Police.

Sameer Anjaan, Lyricist Enters Guinness Book of World Records

17.2.2016: Bollywood lyricist, Sameer Anjaan entered the Guinness Book of World Record as the ‘Most Prolific Bollywood Lyricist’.  He wrote songs for more than six hundred and fifty Bollywood movies. Total number of songs he wrote is around 3,524 till December 15, 2015.  He was handed over a certificate from Guinness Book of World Record as the persons who wrote most number of Bollywood songs.

Akbar Kakkattil, Malayalam Novelist Passed Away

17.2.2016: Akbar Kakkattil noted Malayalam novelist and story writer passed away due to lung related ailment.  He was 62 and had two children.  He was ill since one year and was taking treatment at a private hospital.  He won many books, novels and short stories.  He was honored with Kerala Sahitya Akademi award in 1992 and 2004 for his works School Diary and Vadakkuninnoru Kudumba Vrithantham respectively.  He worked as the vice president of Kerala Sahitya Akademi.  He was also the member of Malayalam Advisory Board and National Book Trust Malayalam advisory panel.
