Akhil Amar Appointed Member of US National Council on Humanities

22.05.2015: Akhil Amar, an Indian American professor at Yale University is appointed as the member of National Council on Humanities of United States. The appointment was made by US president Barack Obama. Akhil Amar is the sterling professor of Law and Political science at the university. He is a BA graduate from Yale College and JD from Yale Law School.

Jazz musician Boba Belden Passed Away

22.05.2015: Bob Belden, the 58 year old jazz musician suffered a heart attack and died on May 20th. He was also a composer, producer and saxophonist. He earned three Grammy awards in his career.

Tamil Nadu chief minister O Paneerselvam Resigned

22.05.2015: Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, O Paneerselvam tendered his resignation to the governor of Tamil Nadu Konijeti Rosaiah. He became the chief minister of Tamil Nadu after Jayalalitha was arrested by Karnataka police. His eight month tenure ended after Jayalalitha was acquitted by Karnataka high court. Jayalalitha is again elected as the legislature party leader at a party meeting held in Chennai.

Jayalalitha to Sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on 23rd May

22.05.2015: AIADMK chief Jayalalitha will take oath as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu on Saturday. She was elected as the leader of AIADMK legislature party. She was convicted in disproportionate assets case earlier and resigned from the post. Later Karnataka high court acquitted her and again she is all set to become the chief minister replacing O Paneerselvam.

IRCTC Partnered with Mydala

22.05.2015: IRCTC, the government owned railway ticketing portal partnered with MyDala to offered deals to the customers. Recently IRCTC also partnered with Amazon and Paytem. The ticket buyers at IRCTC will now be able to access best deals and offers. IRCTC is confident that this will give a great customers experience. This is the third partnership for IRCTC this year.

IAF Mirage 200 successfully lands on Yamuna Expressway

22.05.2015: An IAF Mirage 2000 jet successfully test landed on Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. This practice was conducted with support from Uttar Pradesh government, Yamuna Expressway Authority and toll authorities. IAF now has more plans to practise to use highways for emergency landing.
