Shamina Singh nominated for key post in US

14.04.2015: Indian American business woman Shamina Singh is nominated as the member of board of Directors of Corporation for National and Community Services by US president Barack Obama. She will be in this position for the coming four years, till 2019. She is presently working as the global director for government services and solutions at MasterCard.

Ri Su Yong, Foreign Minister of North Korea Visits India

14.04.2015: Foreign Minister of North Korea Ri Su Yong was on a three day visit to India from April 12 to April 14. He is the first North Korean prime minister to visit India. He was on a visit on the invitation of Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj.

Visa on Arriva Scheme renamed e-Tourist Visa

14.04.2015: Ministry of Home affairs renamed the Tourist visa on Arrival to e-Tourist Visa. This will be come into effect from 15th April. A foreign tourist who wants to visit India must send his application online along with his photograph and passport. He should also pay the required visa fee. The application will be processed and an e-visa will be sent to the tourist via his e-mail within three days. The Visa On Arrival scheme was launched in November, 2014 and till now nearly 1.10 lakh tourists utilized this.

First Nuclear Power Plant Construction in Turkey

14.04.2015: The construction of first nuclear power plant in Turkey has begun. The power plant will be built by Akkyu Project Company at Akkuyu in Mersin province. An agreement for the construction of this plant was signed between Turkey and Russia in 2010. The location is chosen by Turkish government as the population there is very low and there is also low risk of earthquakes. Turkey has plans to built three nuclear plants one at Akkuyu, one near black sea city and location for third one is not yet finalized.

Vividh Bharathi FM Transmission Service in Delhi Launched

14.04.2015: Union Information and Broadcasting minister Arun Jaitley launched the FM Transmission of Vividh Bharathi Service in Delhi. This service can be accessed at 100.1 MHz frequency and will be available on mobile phones also. This is a service of All India Radio. It offers various programs such as short plays, film music, interactive programs and many more. It has the largest collection of songs in India than any other FM service.
