BJP Worried About Victory In Delhi Assembly Elections

The BJP has been on winning spree for the last one year and is facing tough time when it came to Delhi state elections.

New Delhi: With the Delhi state assembly elections happening in just 3 days now there are serious speculations and surveys about the likely outcome of the elections.

The Reliance sponsored media already confirmed some time back that Kezriwal and his AAP will be the frontrunners in the elections. The BJP (which is presently the ruling party at the centre having Delhi as headquarters) is likely to lose its earlier position in Delhi assembly.

Delhi went for elections in December 2013 and BJP became the largest party with 33 MLA seats against total of 70 seats. AAP with 28 seats formed the government with external support of congress with 8 seats. The AAP government with Kezriwal as CM continued in office just for 49 days.

After President’s rule, the state is going to assembly elections on 7th February 2015. There are 3 major competitors in the fray. The BJP is trying its best to ensure that its success journey (started with general elections last year and continued with the 4 state elections) continue even in Delhi.

AAP is concentrating its full resources and is proving to be the frontrunner. As per the recent survey by ABN Nielson, AAP is likely to get 35 seats whereas BJP is likely to win 29 seats leaving the balance to congress.

Though the actual results will be open on 10th February, the surveys are really disturbing for the ruling party at centre i.e., BJP. The party is banking heavily on Modi factor. Modi’s actions are not in the desired direction and the results of BJP rule are yet to be observed by the nation (after 8 months in government).

The BJP is able to put AAP in fix in issue of donations to the party. The party is also terming AAP as escapist and is promising stable government if voted to power.

The ABN Neilson survey is definitely a boost to congress. The party has been losing heavily since last general elections and the projected 6 seats is definitely a jackpot for the party (though it is lesser in number compared to previous assembly strength of8 seats).

The Delhi results are open on 10th February 2015.
