TDP BJP Alliance In AP: Win-Win For Both The Parties

WIN WIN FOR TDP, BJP ON THE ALLIANCE

TDP BJP Alliance In AP: Win-Win For Both The Parties

The much awaited alliance between TDP & BJP in one of the biggest states of the country is formalized. Keeping aside the cadre’s feeling and reactions, here is a note on the need for this alliance for both the parties.

Hyderabad: The poll alliance between TDP & BJP is now final. The BJP would be contesting 8 out of 17 MP seats & 45 out of 119 MLA’s in Telangana. In seemandhra BJP is contesting 5 out of 25 MP & 15 out of 175 MLA seats.

This alliance (irrespective of who is going to win how many seats) is very important for both the parties. BJP could get a positive talk in Telangana as it helped clearance of T-bill in parliament. Similarly, it also could explain to Seemandhra that suitable package is in line for the region’s developmental activities.

TDP has strength in Telangana with its strong cadre base. Similarly, it is equally strong in Seemandhra where there is competition from YSRCP only.

Despite the actions/inactions by TDP (good or bad), the party is forced to sit in the opposition for the last 10 years. The party needs to come to power at state as well as centre for it to continue its existence. In absence of immediate power, the existence of TDP itself can be a question mark.

BJP with its strong presence through out rest of the country is unable to find a respectable position as far as AP is concerned.

The various pre-poll surveys are indicating the near majority for BJP/NDA and the large number of MP seats from AP (25 in Seemandhra & 17 from Telangana) is definitely an issue that the party can’t ignore & leave.

Under these circumstances, the alliance between TDP & BJP is a win-win situation for both the parties. If the alliance works out well in the coming elections, TDP with its MP support at centre can get more funds for development of Seemandhra. The initial response from cadre of both the parties is very negative but with passage of time it is bound to recede and the alliance is expected to perform extremely well in the coming elections.

While on the subject, it is worth noting TDP played an important role during NDA rule till 2004 where the centre got support from TDP and TDP ensured that maximum support is given to AP during the drought hit period during that time.
