Strengths Of Teams In Indian Premier League
During the last 6 seasons, 5 out of 9 teams won the final matches. The current season (7th in series) has teams with solid background.
Mumbai:Till now we have seen 6 seasons of IPL and the winning teams are: Rajasthan Royals RR (1st season), Deccan Chargers DC (2nd season), Chennai Super Kings CSK (3rd & 4th seasons), Kolkata Knight Riders KKR (5th season) & Mumbai Indians MI (in 6th season in 2013).
The other participants in the IPL include:
1) Delhi Daredevils (DD)
2) Pune Warriors India (PWI)
3) Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
4) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
CSK won IPL trophy in 2010 & 2011 but lost to KKR in subsequent year (missing hat-trick). The important batsmen in this team include MS Dhoni, Suresh Rain and bowlers McCullam, Plessies Bravo etc.
MI won IPL trophy in 2013 by beating CSK. CSK scored 125 runs & MI won the match 23 runs scoring 148 runs. This team has great players like Pollard, Harbajan.
RR had only one win to their account (IPL 2008) and despite their best efforts they are unable to win. Key players in this team include: A Rahane, S Watson etc.
DC won final match in 2009 and it has key players like Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Dale Steyn etc. This team is participating in IPL with new name of Sun Risers Hyerabad SRH.
KKR won the final match in 2012 by 5 wickets over CSK. KKR scored 192 runs for loss of 5 wickets & CSK scored 190 runs for loss of 3 wickets. Key players of this team include G Gambhir, J Kallis etc.
DD entered playoffs only in 2009. This team has support from players like Dinesh Kathik, K Pieterson, Murali Vijay etc.
RCB was finalist in 2009 and they also despite best performance, could not get one more victory in IPL. RCB has the best players like Yuvraj Siongh, C Gayle, AB deVillers, V Kohli, Mutaiah Muralitharan etc.
PWI entered IPL in 2011 but is yet to win any final match in IPL. This team has important players like Michael Clarke, Manish Pandey etc.
KXIP could come to play off only during 1st season (2008). Presently the team is strong with presence of batsmen like Virendra Sehwag, Pujara, David Muller & players like L Balaji.
As can be seen from the above, each of the team has its own strength to win the IPL 7 tourney starting from 16th April. The winner of IPL 7 will be known on 1st June 2014 at Wankhade Stadium at Mumbai.
