Chocie Of Seemandhra People During Voting

The seemandhra region (residuary state after AP split) is going to polls on 7th may to elect 25 MP & 175 MLAs.

Hyderabad: The people of seemandhra region is going to exercise their franchise on 7th May to select 25 MP and 175 MLA to represent them for the next 5 years. The area comprises of 13 districts (9 in coastal region + 4 in Rayalaseema region).

Rayalaseema region is generally favoring ‘reddy’ community whereas the coastal region is famous for supporting ‘kapu’ & ‘Kamma’ castes. The past 60 years of election pattern in united AP showed the above trend (with minor exceptions).

Going by the above trend, the Rayalaseema region is likely to favor Jagan’s YSRCP whereas the TDP headed by Chandrababu Naidu is likely to get most of the seats in coastal region. The initial poll surveys also indicated the same trend.

Both TDP & YSRCP are filled with migrants from erstwhile congress leaders, who left congress (in view of AP split to carve Telangana) in search of their political future. Dissidence among the local candidates is common to both the parties. Both the parties are individual centric regional parties.

Despite initial poll surveys suggesting more seats for YSRCP, TDP’s election manifesto and its pre-poll alliance with BJP definitely improved the winning chances for TDP in this region. Naidu’s political acumen and also his cleaner image are going to add to the strength of the party. His past experience as CM of united AP, his development during his tenure, his vision for developing Seemandhra are factors that are going to influence the voters’ mind. Many of Naidu’s election promises have been criticized by the opponents initially, but those parties have been left with no other option but to accept the TDP’s poll promises and announce the same as their poll promises as well.

TDP’s alliance with BJP is also viewed as a fore-vision of Naidu. The development agenda of Modi & Naidu is well accepted by the voters. Their election campaign is mostly devoted to spell development and less to criticize opponents.

Jagan’s downtrend in his popularity is caused due to more and more YSR Regime’s corruption news (including latest Titanium case where YSR’s soul KVP got his name indicted in FBI investigation). Jagan has already been mentioned as accused in many scams, he was in jail for 16 months and he is presently on bail. The future of Jagan is dependent on outcome of the current elections whereby the central government formation is finalized. Sole objective of Jagan’s election campaign is to criticize TDP & BJP. He never utters single word about congress as well as KCR of TRS. This partial campaign is also contributing to Jagan’s reduced popularity.
