Elections 2014: Konda Surekha, Konda Muralidhara Rao Looking Towards TDP

Konda Surekha and Muralidhara Rao are looking towards TDP. According to reliable sources, they are expecting to contest from Parakala and Warangal west constituencies. Chandrababu has not given a green signal.

Warangal: According to reliable sources, Konda Surekha and her husband Konda Muralidhara Rao are looking towards TDP. Both of them were powerful leaders in Congress but want to contest as TDP candidates in the coming assembly elections.

It is informed that Konda couple is having discussions with TDP president Chandrababu Naidu through an important leader in TDP. Chandrababu however has not given green signal for this. Konda Surekha and her husband were trying to get tickets to contest in polls from Parakala constituency and also from another constituency. They were in Delhi for this purpose and even tried to get recommendation from leaders close to Sonia Gandhi. With Ponnala Lakshmayya appointed as PCC Chief, there seems to be no hope for them to get congress tickets and thus are looking for an alternative for their political future. Ponnala and other district leaders were angry with the couple for not consulting them before joining congress. If there is seat adjustment between Congress and TRS, Parakala seat will be given to the TRS sitting MLA.

It is said that Konda couple wanted to join in Bharatiya Janata Party but later changed their mind and are now trying to join TDP. Konda Surekha was elected as MLA thrice and Konda Murali worked as DCCB Chairman and MLC. Surekha worked as a minister under Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. Bad days started for them after the demise of Rajasekhar Reddy. She and her husband resigned to their posts fighting to see Jagan as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Surekha contested as YSR party candidates in sub-polls from Parakala but did not win.

Later Konda couple kept themselves away from Jagan and joined Congress party again. District leaders did not co-operate with them and they were not even invited for party programs. With all this, they are now trying to join TDP. It is said that they are expecting tickets for Parakala and also Warangal west constituencies.
