Party Defections: Reasons Better Known To The Defectors Only

All the parties (from national to registered local to unregistered local parties) are on one hand encouraging defections from other parties in to their party and on the other hand crying ‘foul’ regarding defections from their party to outside.

Hyderabad: Changing party loyalty is a common phenomenon. Leaders of many parties are changing their political affiliations. This defection is more common during the election time. The reasons for defection are quite common in many cases:

1) The candidate is not given the seat ‘desired by him’.

2) The candidate is offered seat ‘not liked by him’.

3) The candidate’s suggestion for B Form to some leader is not accepted by the party.

4) Winning chances are more in the ‘other party’.

5) Not happy with the treatment in the existing party.

AP is witnessing many politicians changing their loyalty. Many congress leaders (presently sitting members from Assembly & Lok Sabha alike) have moved out to other parties like TDP, YSRCP & BJP etc. Here the reason for defection is manly anti-congress wave strongly prevailing in this region (post Telangana formation).

New formed Telangana state is full of leaders whose political loyalty is totally changing overnight and creating more confusion among the voters. The sitting members as well as other leaders are moving from one party to other party overnight.

The loyalty changing is common from TDP & congress to TRS. Here the main reason for incoming to TRS can be attributable to more winning chances (as TRS is projected to have ‘bring Telangana’). Senior leaders form TDP as well as congress are moving to TRS.

Similarly, many TRS leaders are invited into congress with assurance of ‘Seat’ of their choice (MP or MLA). Sitting Medak MP Vijayasanti (who KCR confirmed as his sister) joined congress with assurance of existing seat (Medak MP). The latest outgoing from TRS include Vivek brothers. These senior leaders left congress to join TRS during the height of the T-Movement and once the elections are declared and there is no indication of alliance between TRS & Congress, these brothers have shifted their loyalty to their original mother organization (Congress). Reasons for defections from TRS are attributed mainly to one-man decision taking by KCR (chief of TRS).

The final list of contestants from various parties for MLA/MP can be known only after the final date for withdrawal i.e., 12th April for Telangana & 23rd April for AP state.
