Maruti Suzuki ‘Celerio’ aka ‘A:Wind’ spotted – To be offered in both Diesel and petrol versions to replace ‘A Star’ and ‘Zen Estilo’

Maruti Suzuki has been working very hard on the next upgrade to the A Star hatch back from the past one and half year. There are few different speculations about this upcoming model from Maruti which will have the calibre to give the manufacturer a breakthrough in the entry level compact hatch back segment. Earlier, it was reported that Maruti is likely to upgrade Alto and will discontinue A Star from the Indian market. To the surprise of all, a new concept has been spotted in India..

A concept model with the code name ‘YL7’ was show cased as the ‘A:Wind Concept Car’ at the former Thailand International Motor Expo 2013 that was held in the month of November last year. The official debut of the most awaited hatch back is going to take place at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo that will be held in the month of February this year. Maruti Suzuki is getting ready for the show and an enthusiast has spotted the first ever unit of upcoming model while it was getting shot with camera.

As per the information, the upcoming hatch back is going to be dubbed into the Indian market as ‘Celerio’ instead of ‘A Star’ or ‘A:Wind’ most probably. Celerio is expected to get powered with the same K series engine that is being used in the current gen Alto K10. The respective 1.0 litre K Series 3 cylinder engine is producing around 97 bhp of power at the peak along with 90 Nm of torque but it is informed that Maruti is likely to tune up the engine to deliver higher power output for Celerio.

Maruti Suzuki has also discontinued the Zen Estilo recently and thus we could also expect the upcoming Celerio to be available in both petrol as well as in the diesel versions. The current gen Alto K10 is capable of delivering around 20.2 kmpl of mileage on a whole and the same engine is likely to deliver few extra kilometres in Celerio. However, nothing is confirmed officially and thus we must wait till the model gets launched officially at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo in February.
