Hyundai Mini SUV spotted – Can it overtake Mahindra Scorpio, Ford Eco Sport, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano?

Hyundai has been working on the compact SUV concept from the past one year and most probably, we could see the model on roads this year. Since the announcement has been made by the manufacturer, no snap of the model has been revealed so far and thus very little about the model is known. Finally, a test mule of the model wearing heavy black camouflage has been spotted and a set of respective images have been revealed over web.

As per the information, the upcoming mini SUV from Hyundai is going to be styled basing on the brand new Fluidic Design 2.0. Fluidic Design is being used by some of the hot favourites in the market currently and thus we could expect the upcoming SUV will help Hyundai to excel well in the segment. It is also informed that Hyundai may not adopt the ‘Storm Edge’ design edge technology for the upcoming compact SUV, that was earlier used for the recently unveiled Santa Fe. We may not get to see the model at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo in the month of February.

Hyundai may offer the compact SUV in both petrol as well as in the diesel versions too. There are several speculations about the engine specifications of this upcoming compact SUV. The diesel version of the SUV may get offered with a 1.4 litre diesel engine that has been used previously in the i20 sedan in India. The petrol version might get fitted with the same 1.8 litre engine used in the current edition of Elantra sedan. Another top end diesel variant may also get offered that will be powered with a 1.6 litre diesel engine, adopted from Hyundai Verna sedan.

Mini SUV must be capable of tackling leading SUV models in the Indian market such as Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio and Ford Eco Sport in order to survive and thus Hyundai need to be double sure about each and every aspect of the upcoming model. We can expect the official debut of the model by the end of this year and the manufacturer is likely to price the vehicle in the range of Rs. 8 lakhs to Rs. 13 lakhs only.
