23.2.2015: RK Dhowan, Indian Navy Chief Admiral is visiting Bangladesh to consolidate bilateral defense ties. He will be in Bangladesh for four days.

Ram Niwas Goel is the Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker

23.2.2015: Ram Niwas Goel is unanimously elected as the speaker of Delhi Assembly. This Aam Aadmi party leader won from Shahadara constituency in recent elections. His rival was Jitender Singh of BJP. Ms Bandana Kumari is elected as the Deputy speaker.

Takahiro Hachigo is the new President and CEO of Honto Motor Co.

23.2.2015: Takahiro Hachigo is going to assume charge as the new president and CEO of Honda Motor Co in June this year. He will succeed Takanobu Ito. He was the managing officer of the company prior to this appointment. He joined Honda in 1982 as an engineer.

Reuters Bureau Chief’s Suspicious Death in Pakistan

23.2.2015: Reuters Pakistan and Afghanistan’s bureau Chief Maria Golovnina is found dead in her residence in Islamabad. She was found in the bathroom and her colleagues shifted her to the hospital where the doctors said that she is already dead. Actual cause of her death is now known but the authorities said that the details will be known after the postmortem. There are no injuries on her body, it is said. She joined Reuters in 2001 and worked in many parts of the world such as London, Singapore and Seoul.

15% Salary Hike for Government Sector Bank Employees

23.2.2015: Bank employees who were planning on strike from 25th of this month for four days withdrew their plan as the government sector bank employees associations and Indian banks association came to an agreement. Bank employees were asking for hike in wages. They are going to get 15% increase in their salaries. This new salary will be applicable from November, 2012. Government sector banks will have holidays on every 2nd and 4th Saturdays in a month and will work full time on 1st and 3rd Saturdays.

Tamil Veteran Director R C Sakthi Passed Away

23.2.2015: RC Shakthi, popular Tamil Director breathed his last in Chennai due to illness. He is survived by a son and two daughters. He launched Kamal Hassan in 1976. Few films which were directed by him are Nirangala, Dharma Yuddham and Amma Pillai. He received many awards including Tamil Nadu state awards.
