Hyundai i20 2015 interiors Spotted – To be priced around Rs. 5–8 lakhs to beat Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Swift and Fiat Punto
The Success of the Grand i10 hatch back in India has encouraged Hyundai to introduce the refreshed edition of the i20 entry level premium hatch back in the country as early as possible. We can expect the official launch of the Hyundai i20 hatch back to take place during this festive season most probably. In order to take the excitement to the peak, an enthusiast has revealed few spy images of a test mule of i20 2015 which have previewed a glimpse of the interiors of the upcoming model for the first time ever.
Hyundai has introduced the i20 hatch back in the Indian market for the first time in the year 2008 and an upgraded version of the model was launched in the year 2012. Both the editions have been received well by the Indian buyers and thus, Hyundai is hoping to climb to the top spot in the respective segment with the launch of the 2015 i20. Though nothing has been confirmed officially, we could expect the official launch of the model to get scheduled somewhere in the month of September or October this year. The huge success of the Grand i10 has propelled Hyundai to schedule the launch of 2nd gen i20 in the Indian market prior to any other market in the World.
The respective test mule spotted this time was being tested on Delhi roads and the vehicle was fully covered with heavy black coloured camouflage. The upcoming edition of the i20 is also expected to have its overall length less than 4 meters in order to get sorted under the ‘Sub 4 Meter’ segment. Even a millimeter length exceeding 4 meters could impart heavy amount of taxes on the vehicle, as per the guidelines of the Indian Government. However, we could expect a wide number of cosmetic changes inside as well as outside the hatch back in the next gen edition.
The modifications done to the front fascia are not visible in the respective set of spy images but we are fortunate to get a clear view of the rear end along with the interiors. The rear end gets a set of LED tail lamps and disk brakes for the rear wheels. The three spoke steering wheel inside the hatch back is very trendy and the light blue lighting for the controls and switches provides better visibility during night journeys. The hatch back will be appreciable spacious like the former gen variant and we can expect slight increase in the boot space also.
We could expect the same 1.2 litre and 1.4 litre petrol engines to get carried over to the 2015 i20 and the diesel version of the model may also get fitted with the same 1.4 litre diesel engine. We could expect both 5 speed manual transmission and 5 speed automatic transmission gear box to mate the respective engines mostly. Hyundai i20 2015 has to tackle rival models such as Fiat Punto, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Swift.
