General Elections 2014: Counting to Begin on May 16-Trends to Start Coming by 10.00 am Tomorrow

Counting of votes is going to begin from tomorrow. Elections were held for 543 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country and for Andhra Pradesh, Odhisa and Arunachal Pradesh assemblies. The fate of candidates of various political parties will be known in another couple of hours.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh is not technically bifurcated but elections were held in two phases on different dates in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. All political parties, candidates and people are curious to know the results. The results may start coming from 10.00 am tomorrow.

Around 4,508 candidates are competing for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh assembly constituencies and Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha constituencies. Telangana recorded 72% voting and the voting percentage in Seemandhra was nearly 80.

Counting will be held in 168 centres in 78 regions. 6,955 tables are set up in 437 halls. A micro observer will be present at each table. Agents of candidates will also be allowed. Agent can be any person of candidate’s choice and the person should have completed 18 years. Security staff will not be allowed into the hall. Sitting MPs, MLAs, MLCs and those who are in government nominated posts will not be allowed as agents. Government employees also cannot work as agents.

Counting in Hyderabad

The last phase of general elections in India is going to began tomorrow. All arrangements are made for the counting. This is informed by Hyderabad district election officer, GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar. He spoke to media yesterday along with Hyderabad district collector and joint collectors Mukhesh Kumar Meena.

Postal ballet votes counting will begin at 8.00 am tomorrow. The counting of EVM votes will begin at 8.30 am. Twelve to fifteen tables are set up in each hall based on the polling stations in various constituencies. Based on the counting rounds it is likely that Charminar assembly result will be released first. Yakutpura constituency result is likely to be the last to come. Four and half hours may take for the result of Charminar to be announced from the starting of counting. All constituency results in the district are likely to be released by afternoon 3.00 pm.

Two more tables are set up in addition to the tablets set up for counting of votes. EVMs will be checked randomly on these tables. Micro observer, counting supervisor, counting assistants and helpers will be present at each table. If any problem arises in any EVM, that will be kept aside and counting will be continued with other EVMs. Thousand counting supervisors, another thousand assistants and 500 micro observers from central are going to participate in counting duties.
