Multi Starrer Movies - In Action and Voice

Multi starrer movies is a common phenomenon in film industry- whether Bollywood, Mollywood or Tollywood. These movies offer some advantages as well as limitations.

Hyderabad: Telugu film industry is famous for making multi starrer movies. Grand success enjoyed by multi starrer movies started in olden picture and the trend continues to modern films.

Vijaya Productions is a banner that made many multi-starrer movies with the then super stars (only 2 in number i.e., NTR & ANR). Their achievements include pictures like Gundamma Katha, Missamma, Mayabazar to name a few. These films casted NTR, ANR in the male lead roles and also have female leads like Savitra, Jamuna etc. These kinds of films made 30-40 years back are treated as ever-green and even today enjoy support of viewers.

Advantage of these multi starrer movies is that fans of all the stars in the movie contribute to the success of the film. The limitation is that it is difficult to coordinate the call-sheets of top casting for production of these kinds of movies. Film making also involves huge financial commitment as the remunerations of all the stars will be very high as well. Also every possible care has to be taken at the production as well as in publicity that all the lead stars get equal importance and exposure as well. Many of the multi-starrer movies proved to be grand success in terms of commercial realization.

The earlier movies had multi-starrer combinations of NTR+ANR, NTR+Krishna, ANR+Krishna, NTR+Sobhanbabu etc. After long gap of almost 15 years, multi-starrer productions started. The latest in this category include:

Mahesh Babu + Venkatesh combination Seethamma Vakitla Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC) has been a grand success. Taking cue from this super hit, ventures like Masala (Venky & Ram), Tadakha (Naga chaitanya & Sunil) were planned but with little success.

The latest film ‘Evadu’ has appearance of Ram Charan & Allu Arjun to the pleasant surprise of mega fans.

King Nagarjuna has been famous for experiments and he contributed his best for films like Adi Sankara.

Guest appearance by top heroes is another trend. In Raghava Lawrence’s Style Nagarjuna & Chiranjeevi gave special appearance and the film got super collections as well.

Another way of attracting fans of different heroes has been the trend of ‘voice over’. For example Maryada Ramanna starring Sunil has voice over by Raviteja. Similarly Mahesh Babu extended voice over to Pawan Kalayan’s Jalsa.

Latest rumor is that Mahesh Babu’s movie by Srinu Vytla is having ‘Jr. NTR’ as additional attraction for the enjoyment of fans of both these top heroes.
