Maruti Suzuki launched ‘CIAZ’ concept – Renault Scala, Nissan Sunny, Hyundai Verna and Honda City in trouble

Maruti Suzuki has revealed a brand new concept sedan at this year’s Auto Expo 2014 and the model is most likely to replace the existing ‘SX – 4’ sedan in India. The model was earlier code named as YL1 and it has been showcased as the new ‘Ciaz’ at Auto Expo. The new concept sedan looks amazing with low body height and longer wheel base than the outgoing SX – 4 sedan. The model was show cased for the first time at Shanghai Motor Show 2013.

Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, the Executive Vice President for Suzuki Motor Corporation has stated in connection with the new CIaz concept along with brand new SX – 4 Cross “The two cars we unveil today follow the footsteps of the iconic Suzuki Swift. These models are designed to meet the varied requirements of discerning customers around the world. While the SX S – CROSS is a real crossover with authentic performance, the concept CIAZ is designed to meet the growing demand in C – Segment market in India, China and elsewhere”.

The manufacturer has not confirmed the engine and other specifications of the model officially so far but we could expect the petrol version of the model to get powered with a 1.6 litre petrol engine that was earlier used on Ertiga MUV and it generates 115 bhp at the peak along with 150 Nm of torque. Ciaz may also be offered in diesel version and it may get powered with a 1.6 litre diesel engine that will generate around 94 bhp at the peak along with 130 Nm of torque. Both these variants may come equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission gear box as standard.

There is also probability for the Auto Manual Transmission gear box used for ‘Celerio’ hatch to be offered as a choice for the buyers. Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Maruti Suzuki India Limited has stated in this connection “Concept CIAZ and SX4 S-CROSS are two premium segment global offerings. This rich line up will strengthen our product portfolio and will prepare us for the future. The vehicles that we see today reflect out thought and belief. If you like them, they may be amongst you on the Indian roads, in future. As a customer, your right judgement has guided us over the past three decades. We promise to bring exciting and relevant products, as you need them”.
