Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Vs Google Nexus 5: Which one is better?

The Nexus 5 is selling like hot cokes for Rs 28,999 and now it is being rivalled by the recently launched Galaxy Grand 2 which has hit the market for Rs 23,999. Let us compare the two to find which one is a better one.

New Delhi: Google’s Nexus 5 has a new competitor. It is the newly launched Samsung’s Galaxy Grand 2 which has been launched for a price of 23,900 whereas the Nexus 5 is retailing for Rs 28,999. Both Android based devices have got very closely resembling features. So what sets these pieces apart from each other? Let see in the lines below-

Display-Nexus 5 has got a 5in Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS resolution display protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Grand 2 has got a larger screen size of 5.25in along with a 720p (1280 x 720) resolution TFT display but its pixel density of 280 ppi is much less as compared to the 445 ppi offered by Nexus 5. Hence, Nexus 5 has better screen quality.

Memory-Nexus 5 offers 16 and 32GB in-built memory variant as compared to Samsung Galaxy Grand 2′s in-built 8GB storage. However, the Galaxy Grand 2 has got microSD card slot for up to 64 GB expansion.

Processor, Chipset and RAM-On Grand 2 1.2GHz quad-core A7 processor runs the show with 1 GB RAM. Nexus 5 scores way over it by offering the latest 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2 GB RAM.

Camera-Both handsets feature an 8 megapixel rear camera. Nexus 5 has 1.3 megapixel front camera as compared to the 1.9 megapixel front snapper on Grand 2.

Operating System-Nexus 5has got thelatestAndroid version Android 4 Kitkat. This is much improved than Grand 2’sAndroid4.3 Jelly Bean.

Connectivity-Regular connectivity features are almost the same on both devices. However, the 4G LTE connectivity gives an extra edge to Nexus 5.

Battery-Galaxy Grand 2 runs on 2600mAh battery which is marginally better than the Google Nexus 5′s 2300mAh.

Price-The average price for Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is Rs 239000 while you can check out Google Playstore for Nexus 5 which is available there forRs. 28,999 and Rs. 32,999 for16GB and 32GB variants respectively.

Conclusion-Nexus 5 offers superior features and specifications and if you can afford some Rs 6000 extra you should go for it. I would go for the Nexus 5 any day over the Grand 2. It will get the latest Android updates for 18 months to come and is a performance powerhouse whereas the Grand 2 won’t be updated for that long. The Nexus 5 comes out as a clear winner.
