Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 vs Galaxy Grand: Is it worth the difference?

Samsung has just launched the Grand 2 in India and will make the device available for about Rs 23,000 and it will take the torch from its current version, the Grand which is on sale for about Rs 18,000. We find out if you should go in for the upgrade.

New Delhi:With the arrival of the new generation of Samsung Galaxy Grand, there is plenty of anxiety amongst the Samsung loyalists whether to upgrade to the new phone or stick to their tried tested and loved original version. We have simplified this for you by comparing the two devices. Let see which one leads therace-

Display-As compared to the 5 Inch TFT LCD Display of the oldie, the new Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has got 5.25-inch HD display which is surely better than its senior.

Camera-The new Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 comes with 8 megapixel rear camera and2-megapixel front camera. This is same as the old Galaxy Grand. This is a major disappointment for those who were waiting for the launch.

Processor-1.5GHz quad-core processor runs on Galaxy Grand 2 while Galaxy Grand was run by a 1.2 GHz processor. This isn’t as much improvement as expected by us.

Operating System-Theoldersiblingrunson Android 4.1 OS and the new one works on Android 4.3. This is a big improvement and will enhance the overall graphical user experience on the new device.

Memory-Grand2has 8GB of internal memory and an expandable memory of up to 64GB via a microSD card. This is same as its predecessor. It is again a letdown for thosewho were hoping for larger internal memory specifications.

Battery-2,600 mAh battery powersSamsungGrand2. Hence, it can give you a much longer backup as compared to the 2,100 mAhpowerhouse in the Samsung Galaxy Grand.

Price-The average market price forSamsung Galaxy Grand is Rs22999 while for its previous generation, you need to pay about Rs 18,000.

Verdict- The upgrade somehow makes a lot of sense considering what you get in the newer version. Yes it is worthy of the upgrade but I would suggest that you instead look at competition which might just make a lot more sense for a Rs 23,000 device.
