Mahesh Babu, Mani Ratnam to do a Bilingual Action Entertainer?

Sources close to director Mani Ratnam informed that he decided to do a bilingual movie with Mahesh Babu. The movie is likely to go to sets in a couple of months from now. Mahesh Babu’s wife Namrata said that discussions are going on but nothing is yet finalized.

Chennai: According to reliable sources, director Mani Ratnam is going to work for a film with Mahesh Babu. Mani Ratnam’s last movie was Kadali and he did not work with any other after this. Presently it is said that he is going to do a bilingual movie with Mahesh. The movie is mostly likely will be an action entertainer and thus Mani Ratnam approached Mahesh Babu, it is said.

The new movie of Mani Ratnam and Mahesh Babu will be going to sets in few months in Tamil and Telugu languages. This is confirmed by Mahesh Babu’s wife Namrata Shirodkar. She said that the discussions are going on presently but nothing is finalized.

Earlier, Mani Ratnam wanted to make a movie with Mahesh Babu but it was halted for unknown reasons. It is also informed that Mani Ratnam has three scripts ready.

Mahesh Babu’s latest release is 1 Nenokkadine which is directed by Sukumar and is receiving positive talk. He is now working for Agadu movie which he is doing with Srinu Vaitala and another project is also in the pipeline which will be directed by Koratala Siva. After completion of these two films, he will be doing the high budget project with Mani Ratnam. It is rumored that the movie will be based on ‘Ponnian Selvan’ and it will be made in Tamil and Telugu languages on Madras Talkies banner. Budget of the movie is going to be Rs. 200 crores. Vikram will be the hero for Tamil version. ‘Ponnial Selvan’ novel is written by Kalki. It is also rumored that Ilayaraja and AR Rahman will be the music directors of the film and there will be three heroines. Mani Ratnam is rumored to have said that the movie will be completed in 15 – 20 months but the movie may not be completed that soon. Take this information with a pinch of salt as nothing is officially confirmed.
