Mahesh Babu’s ‘1 Nenokkadine’ Review: A Psychological Thriller that Confuses Audience

‘1 Nenokkadine’ was the most awaited movie of Mahesh Babu for many reasons. This film was made in the combination of Mahesh Babu, director Sukumar and above all, Gautam Krishna son of Mahesh Babu.

Vijayawada: Coming to the story, Gautam, the character played by Mahesh Babu is a rock star and he suffers from some psychological disorder. How he takes revenge on those who killed his parents forms the story. He does not know his past but it haunts him. He always fears that somebody is trying to kill him. He kills a person and goes to jail. But it was just his illusion which is confirmed by doctors. He goes to Goa for relief and meets the person he sees in his dreams there. The story has many loopholes and confuses the audience. The movie is basically a psychological thriller.

Mahesh Babu played the character of rock star who is suffering from psychological disorder, extraordinarily. Another angle of Mahesh’s acting skills can be seen in the movie. But his comedy mark dialogues and timing will be missed by his fans. ‘1 Nenokkadine’ is completely different from Mahesh’s earlier movies. He should be praised for taking the challenge of playing a different role. Another attraction of the movie is Gautam Krishna’s matured acting.

Kriti Sanan played the female lead role in ‘1 Nenokkadine’ and she did not allow the audience feel that she is a new artist. She played the character of journalist in the movie. Posani, Shiyaji Shinde, Pradeep Rawat, Kelly Dorji played other important characters in the movie. Nazar once again proved his talent, especially in the climax. Ratnavelu’s photography makes the movie a master piece. He brought Hollywood appeal to the movie. Devi Sri Prasad’s music in emotional and action scenes is lively.

Though the storyline is simple, director Sukumar added a social element to the movie and made the film in Hollywood style. Whether Telugu audience will appreciate it or not will have to be seen. First half narration is very slow and confusing. Sukumar’s intellectual thinking and making are far from the common Tollywood audience taste, it is said. Keeping aside, whether the movie is hit or flop, ‘1’ will be a trend setter in Tollywood as far as making is concerned. The movie is definitely far from expectation of regular audience and fans of Mahesh Babu who expect regular stuff from him. Though the movie is definitely a different film from Mahesh Babu, it is also true that it is not to the taste of common Telugu audience. But with the Sankranthi vacation, the movie may enjoy huge collections.
