There are few players in the history of cricket world cup who can be considered the men of the moment. These heroes etched a name for themselves in the history books of World Cup by winning the semifinal and final matches under tremendouspressure.

Mumbai: West Indies captain Clive Lloyd played an important role in his teamwinning the first World Cup in 1975. In the semifinal match, his bowling figures were 12-1-37-1 which was very impressive and he also hit a hundred in the final match. West Indies lost 3 main wickets for 50 runs and lightning century of Lloyd in just 85 runs set a big target of 291 runs for Australia who failed to reach the target.

Richards, who was the hero of the match scored 138 runs in 157 balls with eleven fours and five sixes. The men behind Pakistan’swinning of 1992 World Cup were Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Injamam. In the semi final match against Kiwis, Injamam scored 60 runs in 37 balls. In the final match against England, Imran scored 72 runs. Akram claimed 18 wickets in the tourney.

Aravind D’Silva helped Sri Lanka to win 1996 world cup, Ricky Ponting was the hero behind Australia winning the World Cup in 1999. 2007 World Cup was the tourney which once against proved how dangerous player Adam Gilchrist is.
